Whispers
A personal blog tasked with collecting my quiet thoughts, singular observations, austere advice, new-old ideas and moments in time.
Lead Not a Life of Imitation.
I truly appreciated the genuineness of their personalities, conversation, and presence. But, who were these ladies?
And, what would my roadmap to authenticity over the next twenty, or thirty years look like, if the person I was modeling after in part was just being herself? Where was my blueprint? Who could teach me how to be myself?
Prioritize your misogi.
What Jesse Ickler helped me understand was how one clear goal for the year defines that year, and how we can approach our goals with that defining moment in mind.
I am pretty sure people who practice actual misogi are rolling their eyes at this definition - but I embrace it fully. I use the word ‘misogi’ to define how I intend my year to be, and its already made a difference.
Details matter.
Details can be applied with great effect in any scenario, situation or moment in time to amplify that moment. When speaking with your kids, spouse, family, friends, co-workers, strangers in the coffee shop, pets, plants…. the opportunity is endless.
I sit here reflecting on where details show up, and where are they truly important. Things that immediately spring to mind include craftsmanship, creativity, strategy, emotional management… and that list goes on. Maybe the better question is ‘When aren’t they important?
Organizing my thoughts.
Facilitation is a key aspect of Product Management and one of many areas I can opine on, which may have application for others who are still unfamiliar with the concept. I fell into Product Management before I knew what it was. I’ve applied it to many areas of my life over the years - relationships, kids, work, health - the core concepts have helped me in many ways. Perhaps they can also help others.
This will eventually be my first blog post.
I need a space to share thoughts, wisdom, learnings, opportunities, and ideas. Maybe others will find them interesting, and it gives my desire to communicate purpose and value.
For now, quickly setting up a space to call home and being capturing thoughts, organizing information and linking it all together.
